Fused mullite is produced by smelting high-purity quartz sand and industrial alumina in an ultra-large electric arc furnace. It appears in a gray-white color, with low residual carbon and well-developed needle-like crystal structures, and exhibits high flexural strength.
It features uniform thermal expansion, excellent thermal stability, high refractoriness under load, low high-temperature creep, high hardness, and strong resistance to chemical corrosion. Fused mullite is widely used in glass kiln linings, hot blast furnace bricks for large blast furnaces, ceramic kiln furniture, saggars, kiln shelves, and the petrochemical industry. It serves as a high-grade raw material for advanced refractory products.
