chemical formula: SiC is an artificially synthesized mineral produced by high-temperature smelting of quartz sand, petroleum coke, and other raw materials. It exhibits a distinctive green crystalline structure, hence its name. With an exceptional hardness (Mohs hardness 9.2-9.3), second only to diamond and cubic boron nitride, it offers outstanding thermal conductivity, wear resistance, and chemical stability.
Primary Applications:
- Abrasives and grinding tools (e.g., grinding wheels, sandpaper)
- Precision cutting of photovoltaic silicon wafers and semiconductors
- High-performance refractory materials (kiln furniture, nozzles)
- Advanced ceramics and ballistic armor
