In January and February 2014, Indonesia remained the main source of bauxite imports in China, reaching 8.268 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 44.3%. In January, the import volume of bauxite from Indonesia was 6.14 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 104.9% and a month on month increase of 73.8%. In February, the import volume of bauxite from Indonesia was 2.128 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 22.4% and a month on month decrease of 65.3%. Compared with the monthly average import volume of bauxite from Indonesia in 2013, which was 4.032 million tons, it decreased by 47.2%. This may be due to the influence of the Spring Festival, but the Indonesian ban may have a greater impact on China's import of bauxite from Indonesia. After the implementation of the Indonesian raw ore export ban, the main reason why bauxite was still imported from Indonesia to China in February was mainly due to shipping. Due to the impact of the period, the bauxite in the previous contract will continue to be transported to China, It is expected that the import volume from Indonesia will significantly decrease in the future. If Indonesia strictly enforces its ban, China's import volume of bauxite from Indonesia will drop to zero.
