Dongfang Hope Group is a major producer of alumina and primary aluminum in China, and plans to build a new alumina project in Zunyi, Guizhou.

The annual production capacity of the project design is 3.2 million tons, "a source from the group said, adding that they had just signed a relevant agreement with the local government last week.

The project will construct two alumina production lines with an annual capacity of 1.6 million tons, which will be the largest single production line in the world.

According to sources, they will purchase bauxite locally and export all of their products.

The current mainstream transaction price of alumina in the southwest region is 2780-2830 yuan/ton, a decrease of 20 yuan/ton from last weekend.
