The difference between white corundum and brown corundum

Author: Comefrom: Release time:2025/5/21 17:26:48

Both white corundum and brown corundum contain alumina, with white corundum having an alumina content of over 99% and brown corundum having an alumina content of over 95%. White corundum is white in color due to its high alumina content, while brown corundum is brownish black. In production, white corundum is produced from alumina powder (the same raw material used for electrolytic aluminum), while brown corundum is produced from calcined bauxite.

Brown corundum:

Commonly known as diamond sand, it is a brown artificial corundum made by melting and reducing alumina, carbon materials, and iron filings in an electric furnace, hence the name. The main chemical component of brown corundum is AL2O3, with a content of 94.5% -97%, and also contains small amounts of Fe, Si, Ti, etc. The main component of brown corundum is alumina, which is classified by its aluminum content. The lower the aluminum content, the lower the hardness.

The product granularity is produced according to international standards and national standards, and can be processed according to user requirements for granularity. The universal particle size codes are F4~F320, and their chemical composition varies depending on the particle size. The prominent feature is the small crystal size and impact resistance. Due to the use of a self grinding machine for processing and crushing, the particles are mostly spherical in shape, with a dry and clean surface that is easy to bond with binders.

White corundum:

Using industrial alumina powder as raw material, it is melted at a high temperature of over 2000 degrees Celsius in an electric arc and cooled. After crushing and shaping, iron is removed by magnetic separation, and it is sieved into various particle sizes. Its texture is dense, high hardness, and the particles form sharp angles. White corundum is suitable for manufacturing ceramics, resin bonded grinding tools, as well as grinding, polishing, sandblasting, precision casting (precision casting special corundum), etc. It can also be used to manufacture advanced refractory materials. The code "WA" is consistent with international and national standards, and most of them are exported, with a certain amount supplied to domestic users. The product granularity is produced according to international standards and national standards, and can be processed according to user requirements for granularity. The universal particle size codes are F4~F220, and their chemical composition varies depending on the particle size. The prominent feature is the small crystal size and impact resistance. If processed and crushed by a self grinding machine, the particles are mostly spherical, with a dry and clean surface that is easy to bond with binders. There are two types of density: the bulk density of white corundum and the true density of white corundum.
