The function and use of sandblasting abrasive:
1. Cleaning of workpiece surface
2. Pre treatment of workpiece surface before coating
3. Change the physical and mechanical properties of the workpiece
4. Surface finishing of workpieces
2、 The Three Elements for Obtaining Surface Results
·The acceleration effect of compressed air on jet flow (adjustment of sandblasting pressure) P
·Type (S) and concentration of abrasive
·Distance (H) and angle (θ) of the spray gun
·Spray time (T)
1. The influence of pressure adjustment on surface results
After setting the values of S, H, and θ, the larger the P value, the higher the jet velocity, the higher the sandblasting efficiency, and the rougher the surface of the workpiece. Conversely, the surface becomes relatively smooth.
2. The influence of changes in the distance and angle of the spray gun on the surface results
After setting the P and S values, this is the key to manual sandblasting technology. The distance between the spray gun and the workpiece is generally 50-150mm. The farther the spray gun is from the workpiece, the lower the efficiency of the jet flow and the smoother the surface of the workpiece. The smaller the angle between the spray gun and the workpiece, the lower the efficiency of the jet flow, and the smoother the surface of the workpiece.
3. The influence of abrasive type on surface results
Abrasives are generally divided into two types based on their particle size: spherical and diamond shaped. Diamond shaped abrasives such as white corundum, corundum, and brown corundum are commonly used for sandblasting. Glass beads are spherical abrasives. After setting the values of P, H, and θ, the surface obtained by spherical abrasive sandblasting is relatively smooth, while the surface obtained by diamond abrasive is relatively rough. The same type of abrasive can be classified into coarse and fine sizes. In China, the coarse and fine sizes of abrasives are generally divided according to the number of mesh screens, and are generally referred to as number. The higher the number, the smaller the particle size. After setting the values of P, H, and θ, the higher the sandblasting number of the same type of abrasive, the smoother the surface result obtained.
